The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, voiced his dismay on Wednesday over the presence of cattle moving within Abuja city. Assuring concerned residents, Wike affirmed plans to halt the practice of cattle roaming within the city center.

During a meeting with the Belgian Ambassador to Nigeria, Daniel Bertrand, in Abuja, Wike assured that discussions with relevant stakeholders were underway to address the issue. He emphasized the need for a multifaceted approach to tackle insecurity in the FCT, highlighting ongoing efforts by the administration.

Wike disclosed that his administration was enhancing collaboration with private sector transportation entities to bolster security in the city.

Ambassador Bertrand, who expressed concerns about the presence of cattle on Abuja’s streets, commended the minister’s commitment to addressing the issue. Additionally, he expressed interest in facilitating investments from Belgium to support the development of the nation’s capital.
