-Godwin Orozo, (Abuja):
The National President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajaero, has been summoned by the police for questioning over serious allegations, including terrorism financing, criminal conspiracy, treasonable felony, subversion, and cybercrime.
This development follows a recent police raid on the NLC National Headquarters in Abuja.
In an official invitation letter, signed by Assistant Commissioner of Police Adamu Muazu on behalf of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Ajaero was warned that a warrant for his arrest would be issued if he fails to appear for questioning.
The letter, addressing Ajaero directly, stated, “This office is investigating a case of Criminal Conspiracy, Terrorism Financing, Treasonable Felony, Subversion, and Cybercrime in which you have been implicated.”
Ajaero has been directed to report for an interview on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at 10:00 AM, at the Old Abattoir by Guzape Junction in Abuja. The letter also provided a contact number for the team leader overseeing the investigation.
The IRT, which operates under the direct supervision of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) and the Inspector General of Police (IGP), emphasized that failure to comply with the summons would result in the issuance of an arrest warrant.
