In a tragic incident, terrorists attacked the Guto, Piyawe, and other communities in the Bwari Area Council headquarters, Abuja, resulting in one death and the kidnapping of four individuals.

The attack took place on Sunday morning, with over 30 suspected kidnappers infiltrating the area council. Residents reported that the assailants surrounded the communities, fired shots sporadically, and forcibly entered homes, causing widespread fear and panic.

SP Josephine Adeh, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the attack in the Guto community.

She stated, “Operatives of the command, in collaboration with officers of the Department of State Services (DSS) and local hunters, trailed the attackers and engaged them in a gun duel at Gauraka Forest, Niger State, bordering the FCT.

“The PPRO also noted that two of the kidnapped victims, Mart Ojadi, 15, and Evelyn Chinaza, 12, were rescued by security operatives.

“The kidnappers were overwhelmed by the operatives, forcing them to flee to safety through the nearby bushes with varying degrees of bullet injuries. The two kidnapped victims were rescued unhurt,” Adeh added.
