The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended two men accused of robbing three commercial sex workers in Lagos.

Confirming the arrest to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, provided details of the incident, which took place on August 23, 2024.

According to Hundeyin, the suspects allegedly picked up the victims around 4:30 pm on Adeniran Ogunsanya Street in Bode Thomas, Surulere, under the pretense of seeking their services. The suspects then claimed they were taking the sex workers to a location where they were supposedly lodged.

“The commercial sex workers were picked up at Adeniran Ogunsanya Street by the two suspects,” said Hundeyin.

“They were driven to a location that the suspects falsely claimed to be staying at. However, midway, the suspects abruptly parked the vehicle and ordered the victims to surrender their valuables.”

The suspects reportedly took two iPhones worth ₦1.05 million, a REDMI Note 12 valued at ₦140,000, and an iPhone SE worth ₦240,000 from the victims. Additionally, the victims were forced to transfer ₦25,000 and ₦8,000 to an Opay account.

During the investigation, the suspects allegedly confessed to the crime. The police recovered the suspects’ operational vehicle, a Toyota Camry with registration number APP 335 JA, along with two other blank number plates used in their operations. A REDMI Note 12, belonging to one of the victims, was also recovered.

SP Hundeyin stated that further investigations are ongoing to bring the suspects to justice.
