In response to the escalating attacks and kidnappings in Abuja, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has urgently called for a security conference.

The conference, set for Tuesday at the FCTA secretariat, aims to address the growing pressure on government and security authorities regarding the deteriorating security situation in the city. Expected attendees include FCT Commissioner of Police Haruna Garba, NSCDC FCT Commandant Olusola Odumosu, and other agency chiefs.

Paparazzi Press reports that Abuja has witnessed a minimum of 20 kidnappings this year. Kidnappers, demanding ransoms, have resorted to killing victims, leading families to initiate crowdfunding efforts. Former minister Ibrahim Pantami has raised N50 million for one affected family.

Despite initial plans for a protest in Sagwari Layout Estate, Dutse, against alleged government and security inaction, the protest was abruptly canceled.
