One of the 29 aspirants seeking the gubernatorial ticket under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo state, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, expressed confidence in securing the party’s ticket on February 17 and emerging victorious in the September 21, 2024 election. Addressing his supporters at Benin Airport after attending crucial meetings in Abuja with APC’s national leaders, Ize-Iyamu assured them of his capacity, experience, intellect, and trust in divine guidance.

As a senior pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), he emphasized the unity within the Edo APC, reassuring supporters that despite differences in the selection process, the party would rally behind the chosen candidate. Ize-Iyamu announced his intention to collect the nomination forms next week and affirmed his determination to contest and win the election, noting that the screening committee is yet to be formed.

Acknowledging the potential for intrigues and rumors in elections, he highlighted the inclusivity of the process, stating that any Edo person, especially one with prior party candidacy, is eligible. He pledged not to take the support of the Edo people for granted, expressing gratitude for increasing calls urging him to run.

Addressing his relationship with Edo APC leader, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, Ize-Iyamu described it as cordial, emphasizing respect for age and years of collaboration. He stressed the importance of unity within the party, reassuring followers that disagreements, even with leaders like Oshiomhole, are inherent in democracy and do not signify enmity: “
