LAGOS, June 23, 2026 — The Squash Section of Lagos Country Club has crowned its champions following the conclusion of the 3rd WorkNigeria Annual Squash Ladder, a two-week tournament that drew more than 50 participants across multiple categories.
The competition, which ran from 8th to 19th June, 2026, featured intense contests among male and female members as players jostled for ranking positions on the club’s prestigious ladder.
Sesan Asani emerged winner in the Men’s category, finishing ahead of Adeboye Teriba and Muazu Dahir, who placed second and third respectively. Speaking after his victory, Asani said he was thrilled to claim top spot in such a keenly contested field.

“This tournament gets tougher every year, and that’s a credit to how much the sport is growing within the club,” Asani said. “To come out on top against players I respect and have battled for years means a great deal to me. I want to thank WorkNigeria for their continued investment in squash, it’s sponsorships like this that keep the competitive spirit alive in our section.”
In the Veteran category, Muazu Dahir doubled his impact with a podium finish, joined by Gbenga Olayemi and Murphy Yusuf in second and third place. The Super Veteran category saw Mike Adekoya take the top spot, trailed by Segun Shonubi and Sunny Obaze.

On the women’s side, Moniola Gege topped the ladder, with Abiola Kolawole and Adekumbi Akin-Taylor rounding out the podium in a category organisers say continues to attract growing participation from female members.
The tournament was sponsored by WorkNigeria, a workforce development and talent solutions company. Speaking on the company’s continued partnership with the club, Executive Vice Chairman, Mr. Alfred Idiodi, commended the turnout and the spirit of competition on display.

Officials of the Squash Section expressed satisfaction with the level of engagement this year’s edition attracted, noting that the tournament has become a fixture members look forward to annually.
