In a concerted effort to enhance the proficiency of the Nigeria Police Force, Solomon Arase, former Inspector General of Police and current Chairman of the Police Service Commission, has announced a collaborative partnership with the Genoa and Genova-based Italian Consulting Training Institute.Dr. Arase, a distinguished retired police officer, shared this development during a recent meeting with Dr. Antonio Lovecchio, a Knight of the Order of Malta Sovereign and security training consultant in Abuja. The primary focus of their collaboration revolves around harnessing artificial intelligence and ICT to fortify Nigeria’s security apparatus.Dr. Arase emphasized that this partnership aims to bolster the police force’s capabilities in modern security techniques, aligning them with 21st-century standards. He expressed his determination to equip the police with contemporary security tools, including bulletproof vests and advanced security helmets.

In explaining the Police Service Commission’s role to Dr. Lovecchio, Dr. Arase highlighted their responsibilities, ranging from recruitment and promotions to maintaining discipline within the force. He stressed that Nigeria’s security challenges vary by region but assured that the commission possesses personnel equipped to combat crime nationwide.Dr. Arase also noted that the key metric is achieving results, citing Europe’s own security challenges despite its effective management. He assured the Italian consultant that Nigeria would provide adequate security for all investors seeking to contribute to the country’s economic growth.The meeting’s attendees included Solomon Okoduwa, Executive Director of IYAMIDR, and Mr. Valentine Emeka Maduka, a consultant to IYAMIDR Italy, focusing on the training of Nigerian youths in various skills in Italy.It is worth recalling that under Dr. Arase’s leadership, the welfare, promotion, and development of Nigeria’s police force personnel witnessed significant improvements. He reaffirmed his commitment to building a new, attractive Police Force that appeals to Nigerian youth.”
