The maiden edition of the Honda Captain’s Squash League Series ended on a high note at the Squash Section of the Lagos Country Club after five days of intense competition, camaraderie and top-class performances.

The tournament, which ran from April 27 to May 1, 2026, attracted over 36 members of the club’s Squash Section who battled for honours in what organisers described as a successful debut edition of the league series.

Speaking at the grand finale on Friday, Chairman of the Squash Section, Mr. Sesan Asani, said the competition was designed to deepen sportsmanship and raise the standard of squash within the club.

“Our mission is to encourage the spirit of healthy competition, foster unity, build team spirit and improve the standard of the game of squash within the Section,” Asani said.

Sponsors of the tournament, Honda Nigeria, expressed delight at the turnout and quality of play displayed throughout the tournament.

Managing Director of Honda Nigeria, Mr. Daisuke Mita, described the event as a reflection of the company’s commitment to excellence and performance.

“We are impressed with the turnout of members and the quality of play on display, which resonates with Honda’s brand promise of top-quality performance,” Mita said. “We look forward to continuing this partnership and making next year’s league series even bigger.”

Also speaking, Honda’s Head of Sales, Marketing and Logistics, Mr. Remi Adams, said the company was excited by the success of the competition and eager to deepen its collaboration with the Squash Section.

“We are pleased with the outcome of the competition and we will continue to explore more ways of collaborating with the Executive Committee of the Squash Section to further drive the value of the Honda brand among our target audience,” Adams stated.

The successful hosting of the maiden Honda Captain’s Squash League Series is already generating excitement among members, with expectations high for an expanded and more competitive edition next year.
